McCall keen on Vuckic signing

Providing he is given the green light to stay at the helm at Ibrox, Rangers gaffer Stuart McCall would be keen to sign Newcastle’s Haris Vuckic on a permanent basis.

The Slovenian midfielder on loan to Ranger is the only one of the controversial ‘Newcastle Five’ loan signings who have impressed since arriving on transfer deadline day.

McCall said: “If I was around next year, then he [Vuckic] would be a player that I would be interested in and the club would be interested in.

“He always has a smile on his face, wants to do extra training, and is a good type to have around.” (Sunday Herald)

Forrest no longer felled by injuries

Celtic winger James Forrest believes he will no longer be plagued by injuries after two years of succumbing to strains, tears, knocks and ailments.

He claims he is now more in tune with his body after the experience of perennial injuries has left him out of the game.

Having scored one and earned a penalty that have Celtic a 2 - 0 win away to St Mirren on Friday, he refused to be jinxed by Ronny Deila’s hopeful outlook for his future performance.

He said: “I’ve felt good since November, much better than the last year and a half and I hope I’ll play more games.” (Scotland on Sunday)

Reds got lucky, admits McInnes

Dons boss Derek McInnes reckons his side were lucky to come away with a point after a poor performance saw them held to a goalless draw at home to Partick Thistle.

He said: “We were quite poor. It is quite out of character for us.”
